FAQ
Q: Do I have to have a computer with Internet access?
A: No. You do not have to have access to the Web in order to have a website that others can see.
However, with Internet access
(called "dial up access") from your PC you are able to visit your website and answer
email questions from your site visitors/customers.
You can use AOL, another large provider or choose a
local provider. This website: www.thelist.com
will help you find the one that best serves your area code.
Q: How will people find my website on the Internet?
A: We will submit your web address (URL) to the major
Internet search engines. Targeted advertising is crucial
to the success of your website. We recommend printing
your site address on everything you send out; such as
letterhead, business cards, invoices, etc.
Q: What are search engines?
A: Search engines are like Internet libraries. They assist
users in finding information and sites on the Internet. It
requires concerted effort to continue to show up in the top
10 major search engines as the number of websites is exploding
exponentially. Did you know…only 20-30% of all activity
is being generated by search returns. It is important
to link to non-competing businesses, such as through an
affiliate program, and to market through other means. This
provides more opportunities for qualified audiences to find
your website.
Q: What are keywords and metatags?
A: Keywords and metatags are words used by search engines to index your web pages in their directories.
If a person is asking a search engine to query on a
keyword and that keyword is on your webpage, your page
could be returned as a possible match. This would let the
person know about you so he or she can visit. Millions of
people are using search engines during any time of day and
night.
Q: Are statistics on how many people are accessing my
site important?
A: Website reporting is essential to the long-term success
of your website. You should monitor the visits to your site
as this will let you know the interests of your customers. The information will also give insights as to
the effectiveness of other marketing efforts. Information
about the traffic to your website is available on a monthly
basis if you subscribe to one of our hosting packages that
supports online reporting or you may elect reporting as an
option.
Q: How long before I can have my business online on the
Internet?

.

this, we can set you up with FTP and passwords to perform the
site updating yourself.
